Southwest Florida Small Business Transitions
to Managed IT Services

INFINETWORK Provides Professional Building Systems’ Complete IT Function,
Leading to Optimized Business Performance.

As a leading commercial contractor in southwest Florida, Professional Building Systems is known for outstanding customer satisfaction. “Over 20 years, our growth has been based on strong relationships and references from satisfied customers,” says Russell Budd, president of Professional Building Systems. Staying competitive while maintaining such high levels of service requires great business tools, particularly with regard to their PCs and network. “Everything we do is dependent on technology,” explains Budd. “Accounting, finance, estimating, scheduling, and project management.” But in a competitive and cyclical business like construction, efficiency is also key to success. “We need great IT capabilities, but we need to deploy capital efficiently and minimize our overhead,” says Budd. “That’s why we’re a customer of INFINETWORK.”

Professional Building Systems first engaged INFINETWORK as an IT supplier 18 years ago. “They had the ability to explain what we needed in plain English, with a focus on my business needs,” observes Budd. As a leading supplier of IT infrastructure and services to small- and medium-sized businesses, INFINETWORK has provided Professional Building Systems with network design and installation, workstations, integration of key applications, and day-to-day maintenance. But three years ago, the relationship between the companies changed as Professional Building Systems outsourced their entire IT function to INFINETWORK in an approach known as “managed IT services.”

Gaining an Entire IT Department
While Lowering Overall Cost

With managed IT services, INFINETWORK becomes the customer’s IT department, taking over complete responsibility for both day-to-day operations and strategic IT direction. According to Stephen Myers, managing partner of INFINETWORK, more and more companies are realizing that managing their own IT can be both distracting and too expensive. “We proactively manage the customer’s entire IT infrastructure,” says Myers, “with the goal of removing the pain often encountered when businesses try to handle IT internally.” As a result, customers can focus on their core business – rather than their IT – and lower overall IT costs at the same time. INFINETWORK uses advanced tools such as Dell OptiPlex* PCs with Intel® vPro™ processor technology to improve service and lower cost through remote, proactive system management. “PCs and remote management tools that utilize Intel vPro processor technology mean less disruptive

could only attend to computer problems reactively,” explains Budd. INFINETWORK brings Professional Building Systems a much broader set of skills and resources (resulting in better outcomes) and can deliver many services remotely without an expensive service visit (resulting in lower overall costs). In addition, PCs based on Intel vPro processor technology have the performance to handle today’s and tomorrow’s demanding business applications, helping to protect Professional Building Systems’ PC investments.

Tools that build stronger customer relationships. “Because our tools are more reliable and perform better, we can be more responsive to our customers,” explains Budd. “This includes more effective project management and faster communication with richer data regarding projects.” INFINETWORK’s managed IT services for Professional Building Systems seamlessly integrate various pieces, including remote connectivity through Blackberry PDAs, job scheduling systems, and document retention.

Proactive security that protects business and critical business data. In an environment where threats from viruses and malicious software are ever-increasing, Intel vPro processor technology enables INFINETWORK to proactively protect Professional Building Systems. INFINETWORK can constantly monitor the PCs to ensure that critical security software is in place and up-to-date, without bothering the end user.

From the office to the field, Professional Building Systems’ network provides a critical connection to get the project built.

Strategic expertise and optimized growth of the IT infrastructure. When INFINETWORK takes on a new customer, the first step is a complete audit of their IT infrastructure and processes to determine existing capabilities, immediate needs, and potential improvements. Then as they manage the customer’s network, INFINETWORK carefully monitors performance and usage, identifying potential bottlenecks and mapping out intelligent growth. INFINETWORK also serves as liaison to other vendors and provides critical budgeting input.downtime, lower repair costs, and better system performance,” says Myers. “It’s a big part of why managed services have become so compelling.”

Better Technology and More Freedom
To Focus on Business

The advanced capabilities of PCs based on Intel vPro processor technology enable INFINETWORK to deliver excellent PC management while at the same time giving Professional Building Systems the energy-efficient PC performance they need to run demanding business applications. The resulting benefits are significant and extend across every area of Professional Building Systems’ business, improving their business flow and maximizing their ability to serve customers.

Greater reliability and uptime that minimize business interruptions. “When a computer is down, that employee is not in business,” notes Budd. Using the advances of Intel vPro processor technology, INFINETWORK can monitor and manage Professional Building Systems’ PCs around-the-clock, 7 days a week, even if the PCs are off or their operating system is disabled.1 INFINETWORK can proactively watch for many developing problems and intervene before they negatively impact the end user’s workflow (or the entire business). When problems do arise, they can often be fixed remotely, without the cost and delay of a field service call. This means Professional Building Systems’ employees spend less time with PC problems and routine interruptions – and more time delivering value to customers.

Lower total cost and better IT support. Professional Building Systems used to have staff members dedicated to computer issues part-time. “It kept them from focusing on their real jobs, and they

Eliminating IT Issues to Improve
the Flow of Business

For a business that’s highly dependent on its technology, Professional Building Systems has surprisingly few technology issues. “I would say we have no IT issues,” observes Budd, “because INFINETWORK is managing our IT. They have the proper platform in place, they manage it extremely well, and we are well-positioned for the future.” INFINETWORK’s Myers agrees: “By utilizing our managed IT services, Professional Building Systems is able to use their technology to improve business value and business flows,” he notes, “rather than suffering it as a distraction.”

Intel vPro and INFINETWORK

1 PCs with Intel® vPro™ processor technology include Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT). Intel® Active Management Technology requires the computer system to have an Intel® AMTenabled chipset, network hardware and software, as well as connection with a power source and a corporate network connection. Setup requires configuration by the purchaser and may require scripting with the management console or further integration into existing security frameworks to enable certain functionality. It may also require modifications of implementation of new business processes.

2 64-bit computing on Intel architecture requires a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, operating system, device drivers and applications enabled for Intel® 64 architecture. Processors will not operate (including 32-bit operation) without an Intel® 64 architecture-enabled BIOS. Performance will vary depending on your hardware and software configurations. Consult with your system vendor for more information.
